A Kazakh man is being questioned by Italian police after he tried to hijack a plane by putting a blade to an air hostess’s throat.

Valeriy Tolmashov attacked the stewardess with a small knife onboard an Alitalia flight from Paris to Rome on Sunday evening.

He then, according to witnesses, told the pilot to land in the Libyan capital of Tripoli before being overpowered by cabin crew and fellow passengers.
