A rare glimpse of Gaddafi forces

So far the conflict in Libya has been reported only from one side, as no press was allowed to cover Gaddafi forces on the battleground but Al Jazeera has now exclusive access to footage which offers rare glimpse of pro-government forces.

Filmed in mid-March, the video shows government army pushing forward to crush the eastern uprising before NATO got green light to launch airstrikes.

The footage shows young men being taken into custody and beaten up by Gaddafi loyalists and government forces roaming the streets of Ajdabiya

Libyan women fleeing Ajdabiya describe ordeal

Many Libyan women left their husbands and brothers behind in Ajdabiya to fight against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

Some of them who fled to Benghazi described how Gaddafi’s troops kidnapped children and the elderly to be used as human shields.

Ten people were killed and 44 injured in Germany on Friday when a freak sandstorm caused a motorway pile-up involving at least 80 vehicles. Police said 17 cars and three lorries went up in flames in the mass collision at Kavelstorf, near the Baltic Sea coast.They said the pile-up was likely caused when winds swept up loose topsoil from a recently plowed field, blocking the drivers’ view. It took emergency workers until late in the evening to clear the stretch of motorway.


Road Inferno: Video of 40 cars on fire as fuel truck overturns in Russia

Nearly forty cars have been left burnt-out and three people hurt after a major road accident involving a gas tanker in the Russian city of Saratov. The truck hit a pole, turned over and burst into flames when passing a car park. The spilled fuel torched the cars that were parked there – as you can see from this footage. The three injured people which includes the truck driver – received severe burns and were taken to hospital in what’s being described as a grave condition.
